When is the best time to buy a brand new vehicle?

Question:
I am looking to purchase a 2006 Jeep Commander new(loaded) or 2006 an Expedition new. The dealers don't seem to be budging on price.
What is the best time of year to get the best price on an SUV? If I wait until the 2007's come out will I have more haggle room? Or do you think they will have that employee price program for the public again?

Answers:
I doubt they will have the employee pricing again, but like the first person said wait till the new model years are coming out and you'll see big incentives on the year old models.

You probabbly won't see too many deals on the Commander as its a new release from Jeep. The 06 Expeditions will go down soon as the new revised 07's will be out this fall to compete with GMC and Chevy and their new Tahoe's and Suburbans.

Also find out what intrest rates they are offering and what you qualify for. A lot of times a more expensive vehicle will cost less in the long run if you have a low intrest rate... 0% or 1.9% compared to 5-6%. That can save you thousands over the course of a vehicle loan. In that case grab something now if you can get the low rate.

Also a great Site to check out is Edmunds.com They have a thing called TMV which is True Market Value. This can really help you by making sure the price you're paying for your car is fair and around the national average for other comsumers.

Other Answers:
Buy it right before they release a brand new model...with a new body style.

Wait till the end of the year when they need to move them to make room for the 2007's and that way you can negotiate a good price! That employee price thing is a gimmick...remember who your dealing with "CAR COMPANY'S" The employee price thing was due to Lack of purchases. They did it to increase sales. I would just wait a few years until they get all the bugs worked out of the "new" vehicles!

hypethically, lets say you were going to buy a 2006 model vw, you should wait until the 2007 has been released. they will pretty much be the same, and the 2006 model will be way way way cheaper after the 07 comes out, but its still brand new.

If you wait till the end of the model year you can get a good deal but you are buying a car that is already concidered a year old. It also could have been sitting on the dealer's lot for a ling time without being startet which might not be that good. It may seem like a good deal but that will reflect if or when you trade the vehicle in. If you keep the vehicle and run it into the ground then the year of the vehicle doesn't matter at trade or resale time. The truth is there is no best time to buy a car. On a monthly basis the last day or two of the month can get you a little better deal because dealers are trying to hit their goals. If you go to the right dealership and do a good job of negotiating you can get a good deal anytime. Right now dealers are desperate for business and are doing whatever it takes to sell a car. The key is to be upfront and friendly while negotiating your deal. Dealers are more willing to help nice people rather than someone that acts like a jerk. I don't think that we will see the employee program again. It hurt the car market more than it helped. It was a huge mistake. The car market is still feeling the effects of it.

Me. Chevrolet dealer sales manager

ill tell you this. my friend bought a 2003 Lincoln Navigator 2 years after it was released and the price droped from 45-47.000 to 30.000 when the 2005 version came out . see when a new car comes out the price will stay the same till a newer version comes out then the price on your dream car will go down and when the newer version becomes the dominate seller the price on lets say my friends navigator will drop.
