Am I stupid for buying a new car, putting $4000 down and paying $275.00 a month?

Question:

Answers:
My father once told me: Either buy old or new. Why buy in between and have car notes and maintenance bills? I would pay cash and save money for repairs, or buy new and have a warranty.

Good Luck

Other Answers:
No, that sounds about right.
depends more if you are leasing or buying.

Remember that buying a slightly used car is better if it can be under warranty. That way the immediate depreciation is over and you won't be throwing your money away.

As for leasing. You are just giving your money away, like renting an apartment. It is better to buy what you can afford than pay less and end up owning nothing.
ok. you did fine. now if you can pay more than 275 then do it b/c the extra goes directly to the principal and you don't pay any interest on it.
Paying less than $400/mo for a new car is always good. Especially if you plan on keeping it a few years after it's paid off.
Pay it off early if you can, to get rid of the full coverage insurance for more savings.
naw your not stupid, you know what will help lower your payments? Pay like $15 to $20 dollars more a month on your payments. In like a year that will lower your payments. Do that Over the coarse of your care note and you will pay your car off sooner.

I paid my car off a year early by doing this and I paid $281.00 dollars a month.
All of the other people are STUPID! the same as YOU! You bought a car you could not afford! You borrowed money to buy a depreciating asset! If you cant pay cash for it, you cant afford it! Being in Debt will keep you poor. What would you rather have...Payments or Money? If you have no payments then you will have Money! What you should have done, is buy a nice used car for about $2500-3000 and kept saving your money. IF when you had enough money saved for a better car then you could buy it. Always remember, that the borrower is SLAVE to the lender. Do you want to be a Slave? What you should do now is sell this car, get out of debt and pay cash for a car and start over doing it the SMART way. Most Americans are broke and have big car payments and Credit card payments. Just look at all the answers telling you that you did the right thing by Buying crap you cant afford and going into debt to do it! IF you are going to be succesful in life financially, you must be smart, live on less than you earn, and NEVER borrow money! The ONLY thing it is acceptable to borrow some money for is a house. Even then you should take out a 15year fixed rate mortgage and pay it off as quickly as possible.
Sell the stupid car you cant afford that is depreciating faster than you can imagine and buy something reasonable for CASH! Check out the source I cite...get his book 'The Total Money Makeover' and read it!

I'm with Freedom Lover, No way! Why would u want to have ANOTHER bill EVERY month?! Rent? Electic, Internet, Heat, Water, Garbage Pickup, Cell Phone, Home Phone, Insurance, Cable/Dish, bills weren't enough? I mean if you can do it Great! But if you live on your own with a family... 275 bucks comes QUICK at the end of the month, EVERY month... But if you can do it, more power to ya! But if ya can't.... I hope you like the car! Might be your new home one day.
We buy used cars on ebay that are still under warranty because it is much cheaper than buying a new car and if something is wrong you can get it fixed under the warranty. If there is still at least 30 days and 1000 miles left on the warranty you can extend it. We got good deals on three used cars under warranty through ebay. Check the blue book value before you bid to make sure you are getting a good deal. Also, check the vin number with the service department of the dealer before you bid to make sure there is still lots of time on the warranty. Read all the feedback comments on the seller to make sure he is ethical before you bid .
