I bought a 98 Ford Explorer and the radio display light won't work. I read on some websites that many 98 and 99 explorer's display lights don't work. Do I have to spend alot of money to get it fixed?

Check the fuse for your dash lights, the radio is on the same circuit. If it is not the fuse i suggest trying to get one at a local reputable salvage yard. Also you could try LKQ corporation, They have locations all over the united states and they guarantee all of thier parts

simple take the radio out open the top cover there is two screws once is opne there is a circuit on the left side of the radio one scre in the back of the radio hold it in there lift it from the back take it out and unplug it
it is a silver box, inside there is 4 resistors they look burn but most likely they are not you have to remove them clean them and resolde them bak in there display will work again
if you can not do that you can buy a new board for $79.00 from here

Buy a after market one from wal mart or something internal leds are a pain in the *** to fix better off getting a new radiop then cracking open the case for the raido and risking messing something else up Have to tel lyou gte a new one. That is a common problem in the Fords.Replace the radio, you are better off. Ge ta Pioneer or something good. I am partial to Pioneer, have one in my focus and it rocks.
