Living in JAX, theres a written exam and riding skills test. Riding skills test usually done outback of DMV in closed off area. Weave thru cones , excel and quick stop drills. Check into rider courses at local community college, course completion will exempt you from DMV test.

If you already have your driver's license you would have to take the written and a riding test unless your state offers a class which keeps you from having to take the riding part. Once you've passed both parts, your good. Like the guy from Cali said, once you get it on there, it's on there. That's how they do in Indiana too. Yes...here in Pa you have to either have a permit or endorsement. Hate to keep plugging the motorcycle saftey progam here, but it is the best way to pass the test. Your state should offer it for free...just sign up get your permit and after a few classes and riding classes you take the written test and riding test...then your license gets updated after that...they should send you a card to take to the DMV to get the endorsement changed to M...so mine says C M...Class C (or car) and Motorcycle.
