1986 Honda Shadow 700cc. On a hot day the temp gage almost goes to the red zone.?

Question:
But has not cross over.On a cool morning I can ride forever and it does not get hot.Any Ideas why only on hot days or afternoons. Where should i strat to trouble shoot?

Answers:
As long as the fan comes on and the guage never crosses overe into the red you should be fine. All engines run hotter on hot day and they run cooler on cool days. I rode through the last 2 Indiana winters and my temp guage on my '78 Goldwing never made it into the white zone, which represents the proper opperating temp, even with a piece of cardboard covering the radiator. During the summer it may hit the right side of the white zone but it never hits the red zone.

Other Answers:
If it doesn't go into the red zone your alright. Can you hear the cooling fan come on? If not then that's likely the problem.
those bikes will run high temp. cheack and make sure fan comes on
