anyone have any bad travel stories? Something you can look back on now and laugh.?

Question:
Airline loose your luggage both ways? Have to take 3 planes just to get back to where you started?
I would just like to prepare for the worst. Just incase

Answers:
We booked a hotel without really knowing anything about it. It turned out to be in a really bad part of town and had outside entrances (it was really a motel) and our room had no screen and someone came into the room in the night and took my husband's wallet and both our jackets.

Another time we had a 6 hour layover in France waiting to fly to Switzerland. They left our luggage out in the pouring rain and it soaked through, ruining a lot of things inside. Then the plane had to land in the wrong city in Switzerland and we were put on a bus in the middle of the night and dropped off in the middle of nowhere.

In Paris we were mugged on the subway.

In Milan we missed our express train and had to take a local train. The women in our car laughed at us and pointed at us and called us "stupido Americanos".

We were diverted on a flight from Chicago to Boston. They took us to Hartford, CT. We had to take a train to Boston and Amtrak's website said to get there a hour early. No cab would come because of the snow so a hotel employee drove us. Turned out the "station" was no more than a bus stop. We had to stand outside in 9 degree weather and the train was late.

We travel a lot.

Well if it is car crashes then it sometimes is'nt funny.
we landed in merida (mexico) but half of our luggage was in huston. it was midnight and it turned out that we didn't have reservations at the hotel that we thought we did,so we had to walk through the city for an hour looking for a hotel. luckily i speak spanish, or we would have been in really big trouble.
avoid revolving doors! i was just a kid (12 maybe, 13?) and i loved to walk through revolving doors. i was traveling with some school group and we were runnign a little late for a crosscountry flight. i couldnt help it, i had to try the door out so i ran off for just a second to walk around it. turns out this was a OneWay revolving door! i tried to go all the way around but an alarm went off and the security guards made me come out. i was separated from my party by a big glass wall and i couldnt talk to them and they couldnt find me. i had to go back through security lines but i didnt have my passport. eventually the adults helped me back through and the security guys looked really pissed. its funny now but it was really bad at the time, we almost missed our flight and i looked really immature. :-(
