There is a website called www.vehicle identification number.com (it must be typed in as all one word with no spaces). If you will add /ford_1948-1951.html to the end of that address it will carry you to the Ford decoding page. On that page (though the link says 51, it really works on Ford cars thru 59) it will show you how the plate info breaks down. Using it as a guide, write your plate info down and click on the page links at the bottom to see a complete list of what all the codes stand for. The fist page lists codes for the top line of the data plate and the second page lists the ones for the bottom row. Sorry I had to list the website that way. Maybe you can get it right.
