Pretty much all tires now are radials. All season tires are designed to be used year-round. Summer tires have a tight tread pattern and are not suitable for use in the winter because they will get clogged with snow easily and give poor traction. Snow tires have more open spaces in the tread to throw out snow better and are usually made from a softer rubber to give better grip when cold. I live in New Hampshire and we get a LOT of snow usually. I run all-seasons year round and have yet to have a problem. The only car I ever had a problem with in the snow was a rear-wheel drive with a very tight directional tread pattern.

to the company that sells the tires and tries to
get you to purchase a new set of tires for every
purpose you can think of. A good driver only
needs one set of tires for all kinds of weather.
